Hope Again Ministries exists to bring hope, help, and healing to men & women impacted by pornography addiction, betrayal trauma, and sexual brokenness.
About Us
After decades of struggling unsuccessfully to break free from his own pornography addiction — including 15 years while serving as a pastor — Dave Trenholm finally found hope after hearing the testimony of Nick Stumbo, a pastor who had found freedom through Pure Desire Ministries. That moment marked the beginning of Dave’s journey toward healing. The hope, help, and healing he experienced were utterly transformational. Soon after, his wife, Heather, began her own journey toward healing from betrayal trauma. Together, they became convinced that they had discovered something so life-changing, and so urgently needed, that they simply had to share it with others.
In October 2024, Dave shared his story of addiction and recovery with their church on a Sunday morning. Not long after, Heather shared her experience as a betrayed spouse. They led their congregation through Pure Desire’s Sexual Integrity 101 series and launched groups for both those who struggle and those who have been betrayed. The response was greater than they anticipated — so many people had been suffering in silence, unsure where to turn for help. In 2025, Dave and Heather stepped out of pastoral ministry to dedicate themselves fully to helping individuals impacted by pornography addiction and betrayal trauma, and to equip churches to become places of hope, restoration, and healing.
Dave & Heather currently live in central Alberta, Canada. Dave has been trained as a Genesis Process coach level 1 – and is an IITAP certified Pastoral Sex Addiction Professional (PSAP).
Statement of Faith
We believe the Holy Scriptures, comprised of the 66 books of the Old and New Testament, to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 1 Peter 1:20-21)
We believe there is one God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He is eternally existing as three persons in one essence: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19)
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man. He was born to the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on a cross, was bodily resurrected on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will personally return in power and glory to gather his believers to be with Him forever. (John 1:14, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Isaiah 53:5-6, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
We believe that all have sinned and have been separated from the life and goodness of God. Salvation is a gift of God, provided by the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and is available to all who choose to trust Him as Lord & Saviour. Salvation is evident by a regenerate life, enabled and empowered by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in every believer. (Romans 3:23-24, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5-6)
We believe in the church, consisting of all believers and visible as local gatherings for worship, edification, and fellowship, as the body and bride of Christ. The church is to be a witness of the Gospel and to function as the hands and feet of Christ, ministering in love and compassion to a hurting world. (1 Corinthians 12:12-14, Matthew 28:19-20, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20)
We believe that God created human beings in His own image, both male and female as assigned by God and defined by biological distinctions. God established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman, and is the only appropriate context for sexual intimacy. (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6)
